Is it time for all of us who are citizens of western democracies to stand up and hold our own elected political leaders accountable for their direct and indirect complicity with Israel’s war-crimes and genocide of Gaza’s civilians?
What’s at stake if we fail to do so, and urgnlly?
Well, failing to do so means that the world will start holding us, the citizens, equally complicit because we did not speak up or speak out, but remained silent on our couches when speaking out was critically needed.
But in addition to our deafening silence, when any election time comes and we re-elect the same complicit leaders, even if we replace them with new ones who are of the same mindset of those we are booting out. The world will hold us citizens as complicit in these war-crimes and genocide. and rightly so.
It took western leaders and their cronies more than 70 days of mass killing to discover that the earth is not flat and that Israeli war crimes and genocide of close to 20,000 Palestinian civilians in Gaza. More than 7000 kids and infants were brutally killed and mutilated.
It appears western leader are now offering a change in tactics, not in substance.
In response to the outrage & backlash to Israel’s Gaza War-Crimes / Genocide by their own citizens and people all over the world, the US, UK, and the West have started throwing Benjamin Netanyahu under the bus to save their own necks, or so it appears.
Last week President Biden publicly rebuked Netanyahu for the civilian casualties in Gaza, while the US vetoed UN resolutions calling for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire as it continued its complicity in Israel’s war crimes by replenishing arms and ammunition Israel used or lost and supplying it with new and improved intelligence, and weaponry.
Today, former UK Defense Minister Ben Wallace wrote in the Daily Telegraph a post titled, “Netanyahu’s tactics are weakening Israel”.
The questions that citizens of western democracies need to ask themselves are:
Why after 70 days of Biden, Sunak, Macron etc, and those who work for their administrations switch from 1st telling Netanyahu “Finish Them -Finish the Job” and giving him and Israel unconditional support to do anything he wants, to now rebuking him, and throwing him under the bus?
Are the US, UK, and the West sincere in their recalibrating their 100% support of Israel?
Are they trying to save their own necks?
Or are they actually trying to save their own skin, by stroking the “Special Interest” groups and donors who sponsor and fund them to get them re-elected?
So it is time for all of us who are citizens of western democracies to stand up and hold our own elected political officials and leaders accountable for their direct complicity with Israel’s war-crimes and genocide of Gaza’s civilians.
It is time for us not to fail but to join people all over the world in organizing and speak up and out.
It is time we stopped being silent.
It is time we not re-elect the same complicit leaders.
It is time we not replace them with new ones who also gave their unconditional support for war-crimes and genocide to be committed, similar to those we are voting / booting out.
It is time for “real change” not just lables of changes.
It is time for the deaths of almost 20,000 Gaza civilians and children are not allowed to be forgotten, euphamised as terrorists or Hamas supporters, but enshrined as the initial memorial of a new and just world order, one that serves all humans, not just the privileged ones or the self-proclaimed chosen few.
